Melody W. Mulaik is the CODING STRATEGIES and Coding Metrix Inc. President and Co-Founder. She is a frequent speaker and author for CSI and other nationally recognized professional organizations and publications. Melody's areas of expertise include billing and collections, coding and compliance, revenue enhancement, front-end hospital operations, management engineering, medical school relations and operations improvement.

Melody often speaks at national conferences on many topics including interventional and diagnostic radiology coding, internal audit program development, coding compliance and other healthcare compliance issues. Recent speaking engagements include the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA), the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association (NHCAA), the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Since 2003, CSI has sponsored the AHRA Annual Coding Seminar Series, and Melody has spoken at the majority of these sessions. Melody also serves as the AHRA liaison to the American College of Radiology (ACR) Economics Commission.

Melody is a frequent author for radiology publications and writes the bi-monthly coding column for AHRA's Radiology Management and the Healthcare Billing Management Association (HBMA) Coding Corner. In 2007, her article "May I Take Your Order Please" won the Radiology Management Outstanding Column Award. Additionally, she was the lead author of the Coding and Billing Chapter in the AHRA text, Financial Management in Radiology . Melody also serves on the Advisory Board of the Mammography Regulatory Report. Her work has also appeared in RT Image , Imaging Economics , Advance for Imaging and Oncology Administrators and Auntminnie.com. Melody co-authored CSI's Coding Guides for Comprehensive Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology and authored the Advanced Coding Guide for Interventional Radiology.

Prior to founding CSI, Melody held the position of Vice-President of Billing Compliance for the largest national billing company, where she was responsible for implementing and maintaining the billing compliance program. In a direct operational capacity, Melody provided her expertise at three Atlanta-area hospitals in operations, finance and management engineering disciplines.

Melody holds a Master of Science in Health Systems (MSHS) degree and a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering (BIE) degree, both from the number one nationally ranked Industrial and Systems Engineering School at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta. She also holds the professional certification of Physician Coding Specialist (PCS), Facility Coding Specialist (FCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (CPC-H) and Radiology Certified Coder (RCC).
